All about me!

My name is Noah. I have a very eclectic array of traits and interests. Here's some interesting facts:

FocusHacks was my first PHP and MySQL programming project.

I am a Christian.

I have a wonderful wife, two cats, some gerbils and some fish, all of whom I love dearly.

I am a cyclist and a bicycle commuter. I ride my bike an average of 13 miles per day 5 days per week to get to work in all seasons. I've driven to work three times in the last two years.

I am a hacker. Not the bad kind.

I am conservative, and very reluctantly registered as a Republican.

I have worked in the food service, retail, education, consultant, information security, financial and entertainment industries. My most recent move was into the Jewelry industry where I still do information security and systems administration work. I love it.

Up until January 2006, I worked at the same place for almost 9 years, part time. It was the third job I ever took.

I am a former pizza delivery driver, or was I a tactical meal deployment specialist?

I'm addicted to Focaljet.

I am a tinkerer, and have been since the age of 5 or so.

I totally dig electronic music, and when people generalize it as "techno" it sort of cheeses me off.

Although I am an operating system agnostic, I often come off as a Mac zealot because in a "Windows Vs. Mac" world, I'll usually choose the Mac. I usually just use what's best for the task at hand. That's usually OpenBSD.

One of my biggest passions in life is helping others understand technical things in plain English, hence this site.

I am a gadget freak. Although I cannot afford many gadgets, they fascinate me.
